If you’ve walked the grounds, driven across bridges, cleaned a drain or just looked outside for a few minutes, you know that Leafageddon is upon us!

The army of Down To Earth leafblowers will be clearing leaves from public areas in stages over the next few months – first the hardscapes (parking lots and sidewalks), then the natural areas a few weeks later.  So, if you are planning on mulching the front of your house, wait until spring so it doesn’t get blown away.

Also: the second gutter cleaning will take place during the first two weeks of December.

Important: If you are clearing your own backyards, please note the rules for disposing of leaves and yard waste:

• Place leaves in clear plastic bags or a dedicated trash can (not the City of Raleigh rolling bins), and put them out with trash pickup on Wednesday.
• You may also rake them onto a tarp and drag them to one of the piles that DTE has made alongside Sentinel Dr.
• Residents with creek access – do NOT dump leaves or other garden waste into the creek. This just adds to our drainage problems on the property.  And it’s not pretty.

Finally – if you’re out and about, and happen to have your camera handy, take a pic or two! Send them to charliemach@hotmail.com , and we’ll put the best ones up on the site.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Now that election season is over, it’s time to prepare for some other annual traditions. (And yes, “leafageddon” is one of those…) Here is some news you can use from the board:

1. New website. We have one: http://www.whitehallraleigh.com . Everything in the owner’s welcome handbook can be found here, along with handy links for submitting work requests, ARCs, and managing your Sentry account.
   
2. Holiday traditions, part 1 – décor. Residents may put up holiday decorations beginning Thursday, 11/19, and must be taken down by January 15. We are looking forward to seeing your spirit and creativity! (Oh, and make sure you follow the rules, posted on the website…)
   
3. Holiday traditions, part 2 – Lighting of the Tree.  Unfortunately we have to cancel this annual get-together due to COVID.
   
4. Holiday traditions, part 3 – Thank you gifts for maintenance workers. The painters, maintenance workers, landscapers and tree trimmers of PMI and Down to Earth really appreciated our gifts last year, so we are making this an annual thing for Whitehall. Please consider chipping in a gift of $5-$20! HOA board members will be at the Clubhouse on 11/16 and 11/18, 4:30-6:30pm, to accept donations. Whitehall HOA Board

As we get into election season (remember to vote!), here is a quick reminder about our policy regarding political signs in Whitehall.

Per the rules and regulations:

No signs allowed with the following exceptions:
-Real Estate within 6 feet of the seller’s building
– Election signs to be displayed and then removed in accordance with Raleigh’s Rules and Regulations.

The Wake County rules and regulations provide further rules about political signs that can be displayed without a permit (ie, yard signs and banners/flags):

• Signs should be less than 2 square feet
• Signs must be removed no more than 15 days after the election (Nov. 18, 2020).

Dear fellow Whitehall homeowners,

It’s been a busy and eventful year! You should have received a packet in the mail this week with this information and the financial statements; if you did not, you can download it by clicking this link. Here is some additional information about the annual meeting and board business:

1. Self-nomination form – Due August 26, 2020.  Your community needs you!  There are 3 open seats on the board for 2020-2023, and only two current members are running for re-election.  If you are interested in running for a 3-year seat, please submit a self-nomination form to Gloria by 8/26/2020.  A blank form is attached. These statements will be made available for review by the membership prior to the elections.
   
2.  Board member elections – vote by mail – September 23, 2020.  You will receive the Agenda for the annual meeting, a ballot and a voter information packet in early September.  You can mail your ballot to Gloria, or drop it off at the Whitehall Meeting Room (dates and times TBD). 
   
3. Annual meeting – via Zoom – Monday, October 19, 6:30pm.  We will have a Q&A session about the information in this packet, and announce the election results.  You will receive a Zoom meeting invite and link to the meeting in early October.

We continue to work toward enhancing the community in both its appearance and quality. The Board is committed to developing our maintenance programs to insure the long-term health of the community. We also are strategically working on how we can respond to the community as efficiently and with the most care possible. We thank you for your dedication and appreciation for the health of Whitehall.

Summer has officially begun and the community has been great about following the new rules for pool safety!

We are not out of the woods yet, though.  Hospitalizations for COVID-19 have increased significantly, and as of Friday 6/26, face coverings are now required in public places statewide.  A significant percentage of Whitehall residents are in a high-risk group for the disease, so it is important to remain vigilant. Be safe for your neighbors and they will do the same for you.

A bit of good news, though: we are modifying the pool rules slightly.  As of today, residents may invite their immediate family members to the pool.  The pool capacity remains at 42 people, so plan accordingly.  If there aren’t any chairs available at the pool, one of your party will have to wait for a space.  (And if you’ve been at the pool for more than a couple hours, consider heading inside so other residents can enjoy.)
